Last minute puff pastry roses with plums

As I am hosting “Let’s Party!”,  a party-food blogging competition open to all bloggers and food lovers, I thought I must make these puff pastry roses which can be a perfect recipe for entertaining. I have made them a few times and they have always been greatly appreciated.

This is a last minute recipe you can make if you have friends or family coming around or if you don’t have much time on your hands as they will only take minutes to prepare; they will also look very pretty indeed. You can use plums but apples would be perfect too.

All you need is a sheet of puff pastry, milk, fruit and some sugar and these pretty roses will be ready to cook in minutes! So.. let’s cook!

  • Prep Time : 15 minutes
  • Cook Time : 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • puff pastry – 1 roll
  • plums or apples
  • brown sugar
  • icing sugar
  • milk – 2 tbsp

Instructions

Wash and cut the plums into thin slices

Lay the puff pastry on your working plan. Cut it into 4 long rectangles

Brush the ends with milk

Line the plum slices next to each other over the pastry

Now roll the puff pastry inwards to make a roll. Seal the ends with the milk

With a knife cut the rolls into slices (about 1 cm thick) and sprinkle them with brown sugar

Line them up on a baking tray over a sheet of baking paper and cook until golden at 200 C  or 390F for about 15 minutes.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  1. These do look stunning Alida and it looks as though hours has gone into making them. Mind you, if you made the pastry it probably would be hours. This is another good idea I might be able to use for a friends birthday party I am baking for.

Your pastry roses would probably look like weeds when I was done with them but I sure would like to give them a try one day. Who knows, I might surprise you and ME!

Thank you so much for sharing, Alida…you really do have such a delicious blog:)
