Fruit kebabs with chocolate sauce and chopped nuts

During summer time we often fancy lighter food, more fruit and lots of ice cream!

As we are having a heatwave in the UK the sales of ice cream  have gone up suddenly and it really feels like Italy right now with people buying lots of it!

With all the fruit available at this time of the year we should also make the most of it. I am having a dinner party tonight and I have already prepared these fruit kebabs which always seem to be a big hit with my guests during summer barbeque nights.

You can “dress the fruit up” and drizzle it with some melted chocolate and chopped hazelnuts and you will get a dessert made in heaven

  • Prep Time : 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • kiwi – 1
  • banana – 2
  • orange – 1
  • lemon juice
  • mint leaves – 8
  • peach – 1
  • cherries – a handful
  • apple – 1
  • pear – 1
  • dark chocolate – 100 g
  • cream – 60 ml
  • chopped hazelnuts – 3 tbsp

Instructions

Wash and chop the fruit into cubes. Squeeze some lemon juice over the bananas,  to avoid them turning black

Take 8 sticks for skewers and pierce the fruit alternating the different types. Finish with a mint leaf.

Put the chocolate in a ceramic bowl and let it melt over a pot of simmering water then add the cream and stir it in order to get a silky and smooth mixture.

Drizzle the fruit kebabs with the chocolate and sprinkle over the chopped hazelnuts

Leave the remaining chocolate and nuts aside so people can dip the kebabs for extra!

    1. Yes and it is quick to make. We don’t want to spend ages in the kitchen when it is hot outside! Thank you Mark!

  3. Really a wonderful idea. I keep this in mind and will definitely try it, when the peaches survive long enough. It has to be lovely with two kinds of fruit as well for I bet the currants are too small to put them on the skewers!
